The J2 Area Contest for Evaluation and Humorous Speech
The amazing J2 Area Contest was
held at Motivators! If you missed the exciting event, here’s some sneak peek:
The clubs that participated were:
our Motivators, City Hall, Innovators, and Life Toastmasters club. Each club
sent a member for Evaluation and Humorous speech contest.
For Evaluation, the competitors
were Rizko (Mots), Neeraj (City Hall), Fransica (Innovators), and Reva (Life).
Patricia, on her debut as a Toastmaster of the Contest, Hariadhi, the sample speaker, and Lia as Contest Chair. |
The sample speaker was Hariadhi,
a member of BOA Toastmasters Club, telling a speech about the danger of using
gadgets, or handphone specifically, in public. You won’t see people passing and
might endanger yourself and them.
It was a simple speech, yet
reminded us to be more aware of our surroundings.
Rizko, on the Evaluation contest. |
Reva, the evaluator from Life Toastmasters, on her first attempt in a contest. |
Fransisca, The Evaluator from Innovators. |
All the evaluators did a great
job. Some worked more on the contents, some on delivering the evaluation
speech. Truly a chance to learn more about evaluation for everyone who attended.
Erwin said: "Fight for it!!!" |
Erwin represented us in Humorous
Speech Contest. The story about surviving bullying in school and to fight for
yourself will never get old. And with the right way of presenting it, it will
always be inspiring. It’s a hilarious speech, yet retable. Everyone must have
experienced that moment when you feel intimidated and decided to fight back and
solve the situation.
Remember what Erwin said, “You
won’t know, until you fight for it!!!” *lift your fist to the air*.
"I felt sandwiched!" said Neeraj. |
Neeraj from City Hall delivered a
super amusing speech about how girls chased him. One girl was extra persistent
and made him feel “sandwiched”, or trapped. The speech was well drafted with
creative choice of words. It was entertaining to watch or even just to listen
to his speech. The whole room was roaring with laughter every fifteen seconds
or so. Simply brilliant.
Mrs. Yonnie telling about her pregnancy. |
Mrs. Yonnie from Innovators told about
her story during pregnancy and delivering her baby. The story was actually
simple, but brought so comically. No one can have an excuse to be treated like
a queen except a pregnant woman. She got so many benefits during her pregnancy,
but hello, the baby turned out to look like the father! She thought it was
unfair how she carried the baby in her tummy for nine months but her husband
was the one who got a “photocopy” of himself!
That was also one funny speech,
we laughed so much our throat itched!
Mr Heri telling about "Doing the Extra Miles". |
Mr. Heri from Life Toastmasters competed
on a contest for his first time, while he only did his BM3. A brave step, we
must admit! He told about how to do the extra miles, taking the example from
his helper (tukang). That person, he said, always inspired him because he
always did the best service, beyond the expectation of service level. His
speech taught us to open our eyes and see the world with our heart. There are
many things that could inspire and motivate us, including from the people
around us that we often overlooked.
Tantia, our Immediate Past
President was the winner for both Evaluation and Humorous speech contest. But
she fell ill, and regrettably, couldn’t represent us on the area contest.
Both Suraj and Kelvin, the runner
ups, couldn’t represent us too, due to hectic working obligations.
Erwin and Rizko were our third
winner. But they didn’t disappoint us, Motsers, definitely not. They made us
proud by giving outstanding performances. They made us proud.

The contest was successfully held
with the help of a solid team of officers consisting Patricia (Toastmaster of
The Contest), Iwan (SAA), Ikuyo (SAA), Christina and Cynthia (registration),
Diana from JTC and Ayu
from Diebold as Tally Counters, with Niken from
Essentials and Nia from Diebold as timers, and Ikhwan as Documentation.
Also the help from all the judges
who gave their time and energy to vote at the contest.
Group picture everyone! |
Nothing is impossible when you do
it as a dedicated team. A standing ovation to all of you!
A new month means a new theme. Motivators will travel around the world without going anywhere from Mayapada Building. Yes, we'll talk about foreign countries! The first is Netherlands! Don't miss it!
