Join Our Nostalgia

Image
Furthermore in our “Childhood Memories” month, we delved in nostalgia with all that were cool those years ago. Christina telling about her favorite thing in childhood. Which was the "Anak Mas" snack. Claudia from SCBD telling about her favorite thing in childhood. And it was "high heel shoes". Agi tried to be a Table Topic Master for the first time, inviting six speakers, which were Iwan, Heru, Debbie, Shodiq, Belia, and Fachri. It was a very interesting session where we were taken back to the past with Debbie’s recount of playing hide and seek around the block of her house, Mr. Shodiq’s story of being the best roller skaters player in the neighborhood, and Belia telling she loved watching the anime “Sailor Moon” and “Wedding Peach” because it made her wanted to be a girly girl. Agi as TTM giving a question to Debbie. Belia telling about her favorite anime. Debbie delivered a well prepared BM1, telling how she took a huge leap of

Reminiscing Childhood

Image
Sometimes, by reminiscing the past we’ll get a new spirit for the present. Last week, Toastmasters Motivators reminisce our childhood, and Essentials joined the fun. Our president made interesting nametags of the 90’s icons and cartoons. Some chose “Spice Girls”, “Doraemon”, “Detective Conan”, “Sailor Moon” and etc. The most interesting nametag ever!!! The table topic was about favorite games of childhood and memorable things. For example, “Choose one, a wooden sword, hide and seek, or playing kites”, “Who scared you most when you were a child?” And “When you were a child, did you believe Superman can fly because of his red robe?”. We had Shodiq, Ikuyo, Diana from JTC, Edwin from Sandoz, Manzili from Essentials, and three guests,  Donny, Freddy, and Edwin as Table Topic Speakers. Ikhwan gave his BM9 speech about how a driving license could be a License to Kill. When people are not  properly tested to get it, they’ll be irresponsible driver who

Childhood Memories: Innocence

Image
Have you ever wanted to come back to your childhood? To remember those times when everything was so simple and safe? If yes, then you should attend Toastmasters Motivators meetings this September, because our theme this month is “Childhood Memories”. The Table Topic was special because Satriyo or Iyok held a quiz! He played short part of childhood songs and asked us to guess and sing it. So we sang to the songs like Si Komo, Joshua, Tina Toon’s “Bolo Bolo”, and Enno Lerian’s songs. Some members declared they were not even born yet on that era, haha….. The next songs we guessed were McGuyver’s OST, Knight Rider, and even *coughcough*, The Legendary Baywatch OST. To complete the nostalgic Table Topic session, we had a quiz to guess characters from anime and cartoons from our childhood. It was exciting and funny how we all answered the questions. Really like kids. Lia as TOM. Moving on to the prepared speakers, we had Iwan who re-delivered his BM2, telling about “

The Unsung Heroes

Image
The last theme of our Independence Day month was “Unsung Heroes”, in which we remembered all those people that gave a precious gift to our country and all of us without being recognized for their contribution. Ariel did an excellent job as the Table Topic Master, especially presenting slides that took us back to 1998 and beyond. She showed pictures about the chaotic reformation era, the Bali bombing, the devastating tsunami disaster, and many more incidents. She made us realized how lucky we are now. That Indonesia is more democratic and better than it used to. Ariel, Table Topic Master Extra Ordinaire. New Papa, Rizko, on his Table Topic Speech. She asked seven people: Kelvin, Iyok, Praw, Rizko, Ilham, Ayu and Christina, about the heroes in their lives, those who they think should be labeled as a hero but not many recognized, and what’s the most heroic thing they’ve ever done in life, and several other questions that really brought us to feel on a “heroic” mood.
