Reminiscing Childhood

Sometimes, by reminiscing the past we’ll get a new spirit for the present.

Last week, Toastmasters Motivators reminisce our childhood, and Essentials joined the fun. Our president made interesting nametags of the 90’s icons and cartoons. Some chose “Spice Girls”, “Doraemon”, “Detective Conan”, “Sailor Moon” and etc. The most interesting nametag ever!!!

The table topic was about favorite games of childhood and memorable things.

For example, “Choose one, a wooden sword, hide and seek, or playing kites”,

“Who scared you most when you were a child?”

And “When you were a child, did you believe Superman can fly because of his red robe?”.

We had Shodiq, Ikuyo, Diana from JTC, Edwin from Sandoz, Manzili from Essentials, and three guests, 

Donny, Freddy, and Edwin as Table Topic Speakers.

Ikhwan gave his BM9 speech about how a driving license could be a License to Kill. When people are not 

properly tested to get it, they’ll be irresponsible driver who caused traffic accidents. So please drive safely, 

and remind the younger generation to take proper driving test before making a driver’s license.

Bena, the lovely girl from JTC, delivered her advance manual speech about the characteristics of Padangese.

It’s hilarious and entertaining! About how Padangese are so particular about money, able to negotiate 

strongly when buying things, and would be (for example) more motivated in Toastmaster when others lose 

the spirit. Why? Hello, because they already paid the annual fee of course!

It was a very well delivered speech, and we all wish you the best for the area contest Bena!

Erwin delivered his speech, titled I C U. It’s about accompanying his father in the hospital, where he learned 

that in the most difficult moment, people, though strangers to each other, will turn to support each other and 

even become close because of it. There’s a very nagging woman, and many were annoyed with her, but now Erwin’s mother ended up becoming her best friend. Erwin’s father had passed away, but those last days in 

the ICU won’t ever be forgotten.

With that speech, Erwin became our ACB (Advanced Communicator Bronze). Congratulations, Erwin! 

We’ll look forward for your journey to become ACS!
