World War II began on September 1st, 1939 and
ended on September 2nd, 1945. To commemorate that historical period,
Jakarta Motivators Toastmasters Club had World War as our theme last week.

Arya as a Table Topic Speaker |
The Table Topics session consists of topics about World War,
like what the speaker might know about Adolf Hitler, Soekarno, and roleplaying
about being an Indonesian in that era, speaking to a Dutch.
We got two BM1 speeches last week. The first one was from
Jimmy. We all see Jimmy as someone who’s always very confident. So it shocked
us when Jimmy shared he postponed finishing his thesis at university because he
had no confidence and no idea of what he’s going to be after he graduated. He
spent nearly a year joining many activities to find his passion and build his
confidence. He dreams of being a diplomat, and to be that, he realized he
needed to sharpen his public speaking skills, and that’s why he’s in
Toastmasters now.

My dream is....... |
Annisha also delivered her BM1 speech, sharing her dream of
having her own psychological consultant firm. She shared that she loved to talk
and good at influencing people. Annisha seemed to be strong-willed and
diligent. We all wish that she’d have that consultant firm in the future!

Alex was Favorite Prepared Speaker |
Alex from JTC delivered his BM2, sharing his views about war in
general and relating it to how his grandmother in Greece still lives until now.
She lives as if the war would happen again, always prepared, always frugal and
never taking anything for granted, even the smallest things like bread and
water.
Alex said war is ongoing all over the world. War in economy
and politics. He said, if war happened again, he wouldn’t pretend to be
patriotic and would just sail in a boat and leave until the war is over,
because war is not something worth dying for, not when it’s only about power. Such
an inspiring speech with an original point of view.
Erwin our president delivered his speech of Interpretive
Reading. He delivered the scenario of the animation movie Up! It’s very
interesting and different! Up! Is much loved by many of us and Erwin read it in
various voices and tones. It’s the kind of manual that really will improve your
vocal variety!
