Elegant Party
Inspired
by the elegance of Hollywood's Classics, we had our Elegant Party on June 19,
2013 at Menara Standard Chartered.
Hosted by the Brilliant Bena from JTC (who looked diva-esque in her blue dress) and Kool Kelvin (who looked extra cool in his new suit - btw, trivia: how much do you think the suit cost? He asked that to us after the party), the event started splendidly. They definitely got talent to be MCs. Entertaining, hilarious, yet still elegant.
What is Toastmasters? This video was played at the beginning of the party:
The
event was even more special with the birth of our new Competent Communicators
(CC). Not one, Ladies and Gentlemen, but two! Yes, I repeat, two CC sin one
day. They are our very own Satriyo Adhi and Ariel Wylie Tio.
Satriyo
confidently delivered his BM10, depicting a story of the small business he
started after college. He was laughed at and faced many rejections when he
promoted, but kept pushing forward and gained success.
His analogy about a basketball is unforgettable. "Let's be like a basketball. The harder it is pushed, the higher it will rise. If no one pushed you. You will never move forward".

The second BM10
was delivered by Ariel, who revealed her childhood story of running away from
home and the ambitious plan her mom put her through. She continued to run away
from reality till she met her best friends who made her realized that if she
doesn't work hard she will be left behind. "Nobody will be with you when
you are left behind". Ariel asked, "Why do we fall?". “So that
we can learn to pick ourselves up again." At the end of her speech, she
reminded us to keep moving, we must not lose to sharks in the sea. Sharks have
to keep moving in the sea even in their sleep because they do not have swim
bladder. When we fall in pain, just remember to keep moving like the sharks.
Of
course, no party would be exciting without a dance. Therefore our Game Master
Ariel had prepared a game.
Men and women were asked to do a simple folk dance and when the music stopped, everyone must secure a spot on the black paper put on the floor.

Another
fabulous lesson was tips from VJ Nambiar, who told us tips to be a Table Topic
champion. He said he downloaded 100 Table Topic speeches from youtube to
prepare himself. He also suggested to visit the venue before the contest day,
to be able to visualize yourself contesting there.
The night would be incomplete without the speech of our founder, Mr. Wardiman. He also blew the candles on our birthday cake and told us all to make a wish!
June is also the end of Toastmasters Club Presidential year. So we had the opportunity to witness as Motivators Executive Committee 2012-2013 stepped down while the new team of Executive Committees for 2013-2014 period was installed.

Our most beloved Tantia Dian also officially passed her role as Motivators President to Prawira (popularly nicknamed in the club as Prawsident).
We will forever cherish Tantia's presidential year. She always gave her endless dedication, cheerfulness and creativity so that all members enjoy every meeting, feels welcome, and even cultivate stronger friendship among us.
Terrific Tantia, you've done a splendid job! Good luck on contesting this year!
Praw then gave his first official speech as the club's president. Motivator's tagline under Tantia's presidency was "Burn the Floor!". Praw announced our new tagline: "Break The Limits!".
Suggested
by Iwan during exco's Bootcamp in Cisarua earlier this month, the tagline was
chosen among many other ideas and voted as the best and most favorite.
In his speech, Prawsident explained the new tagline defined our goal to strive to be better versions of ourselves through Toastmasters journey, especially in Motivators.
Let's break the limits within ourselves and continue to grow, together!
We asked what members and guests think about Motivators. This video was played at the party. Check this out:
